To use the Dot, you download Dot’s free proprietary application, calibrate the camera, and hit record. Instead of just recording what is in front of your iPhone’s lens, the Dot will record everything in the 360 degrees around the phone as well.
The Dot does have some limitations that should be noted. First, the videos captured using the Dot cannot exceed 8 mins. Also, the overall quality of the video is degraded some in comparison with the iPhone’s standard video recording. With that being said, we feel that the ability to record 360 degrees of panoramic video is a feature that is more than worth the minor drawbacks associated with the new technology.
